focus blur
Stop the screen noise. Automatically blur or dim background windows to keep your focus exactly where it belongs.
Setup & Quick Start Guide
1. Bypass Block: If macOS says "blocked", go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway at the bottom.
2. Permissions: Grant Accessibility in System Settings so the app can track your active window.
3. Use: Give your mouse a shake or press ⌘+B to toggle the blur effect instantly.
4. Customize: Use the dotted circle icon in your Menu Bar to switch modes (Blur, Pixel, Dim).
App won't open / "Damaged"?
Why? Since this app isn't signed with a paid Apple Developer certificate, macOS may report it as "damaged". It's not actually damaged—it's just a security block.
Fix 1: Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and look for an "Open Anyway" button.
Fix 2 (The Terminal Way):
- Open Terminal (search in Spotlight).
- Type
xattr -cr(with a space at the end). - Drag the Focus Blur.app into the Terminal and press Enter.
Gray overlay instead of blur?
Check your system’s transparency settings:
- Open System Settings.
- Go to Accessibility → Display.
- Make sure Reduce Transparency is turned OFF.
